Brief description | Species: mouse, C3H/He; Tissue: embryo; Tumor: teratocarcinoma |
Description | Species: mouse, C3H/He; Tissue: embryo; Tumor: teratocarcinoma |
Depositor | Dr F. Tosetti, Molecular Biology Dept, IST at ABC, Genoa, Italy |
Reference paper | Dev Biol 1982;89:503-508 - DOI: 10.1016/0012-1606(82)90338-4 - PMID: 7056443 |
Morphology and growth | continuous culture, grown as monolayer, morphology epithelial-like |
Culture conditions | DMEM + 10% FBS + 2mM L-Glutamine; split confluent cultures 1:10-1:20 using trypsin/EDTA; seed at 2-4 x 10^4 cells/cm2; 37C, 5% CO2 |
Properties | P19 cells can be induced by retinoic acid (RA) to differentiate into neuronal and glial cells or contractile cardiac muscle cells, depending upon RA concentration and cell density. They can also spontaneously differentiate when plated at too low or too high density and when grown in suspension. |
Distribution | Cell line available for distribution. For non-commercial investigative use only |
Hazard | |
Species validation | Validated by isoenzymes: confirmed as mouse with NP, PepB |
Freezing medium | Culture medium + 50% FBS + 10% DMSO |
